It’s been a frustrating week at Royal Troon (Scotland) Golf Club for Rory McIlroy, who has missed several short putts in the middle rounds and finds himself far out of contention at the British Open.
It all came to a head at the par-5 16th Saturday when the Northern Irishman hit a less-than-ideal approach to the green.
He was furious and made no attempt to hide it. After the second shot, he gave his club a nice chuck forward, smashing the 3-wood in half.
Rory McIlroy goes Ernests Gulbis on his fairway wood. Hope he has another club! https://t.co/s09poJ6TlO

All of his time in the gym appears to be paying off.
McIlroy is no stranger to club chucking, as he infamously tossed his 3-iron into the water at Doral last year. Oh, and he’s not even new to tossing a 3-wood, as he did that at the BMW PGA Championship last year as well.
There, there, Rory. It’ll all be OK.
