Best British Open finish: T-2 (2014)

Last three British Opens: T-30, T-46, T-22

This season: Mostly steady. Managed a T-20 at the U.S. Open with an 84 mixed in. His second-place Masters finish remains his best week of a winless season that has yielded four top-10s in 14 starts.

Why he could win: Murrieta, Calif., native can handle wind and has been solid tee to green. Strong suit has been around the greens, so a windy, wacky week that calls on scrambling suits him. Tees it up the week before British at Gullane, where he won in 2015.

Holding him back: Could feel pressure from the dreaded “When is he going to win a major?” talk, but more important will be improving putting that has him outside the top 75 on Tour.
