3. 11 years too long to wait to return to Carnoustie

While the attendance is never stellar at this fabulous links—high ticket prices and no readmission did not help—the British Open should not wait another 11 years to come back here as it did this time around. The event is locked up through 2021 with an appearance on the west coast of England likely for 2022. The R&A appears to have ruled out a Trump Turnberry return anytime soon, reducing the Scotland portion of the rota to Troon, St. Andrews, Muirfield and Carnoustie. A return by 2025 would be ideal.
