Bubba Watson didn’t earn his first PGA Tour win until age 31, but it was a special one. The left-hander’s father, Gerry, was deep in a battle with throat cancer and Bubba knew dad didn’t have much time left. Desperate to get a PGA Tour title before his father passed, Bubba stepped up at the 2010 Travelers Championship as he came from six shots behind on the final day for his first PGA Tour win. Watson was understandably emotional and he and his dad were crying on the phone afterward as they said “I love you.” Gerry would die less than four months later, but Bubba got the satisfaction of showing his dad a PGA Tour win before his passing.
