Perhaps there wasn’t a more moving interview on tour this year than Angela Stanford’s emotional reaction by the 18th green in Evian, France. At 40, she’d finally hooked her first major title – in her 76th major championship appearance. It had been a long, and sometimes bitter, journey to the winner’s circle for Stanford. But that FaceTime call with mom, who was back home in Texas battling cancer for a second time, proved unforgettable.
