3. Gary Player
PGA Tour victories in 1960s: 10 (of 24 total)
Major titles in 1960s: four (of nine total)
A fitness fanatic and perhaps the first true international star of the modern era, Player won 165 professional events around the world throughout his career and was part of the “Big Three” along with Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. An unshakable opponent and creative shotmaker, the South African won the Masters (1961), the U.S. Open (1965), the British Open (1968) and the PGA Championship (1962) in the decade. His 1965 U.S. Open victory made him the only non-American to complete the career Grand Slam, and his total of nine ranks fourth all time on the major victories list. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974.
