Justin Rose is one of the best ballstrikers of his generation, combining distance off the tee with machine-like dependability from the fairway. But putting had been the Englishman’s Achilles’ heel for years.

After using several mallet-style putters, Rose opted for TaylorMade’s TP Red Collection Ardmore 3, a mid-size mallet with extra mass added to the back of the heel and toe in the form of small wing-like extensions. The grooved face insert is designed to reduce skidding and get the ball rolling on the green more quickly.

Using the Ardmore 3, Rose had his best putting season ever, finishing 17th in strokes gained putting on the PGA Tour after having never been ranked in the top 100. That helped him win twice, collect 11 top-10 finishes and win the FedEx Cup.
