Keith Jackson

A legendary TV announcer who became the voice of college football for more than 30 years while at ABC, Keith Jackson died on Jan. 12 at age 89.

Jackson’s catchphrase “Whoa, Nellie” still resonates among fans today. Jackson did the play-by-play on the first-ever “Monday Night Football” telecast on ABC in 1970 and exited the broadcast stage with an epic call of the 2006 Rose Bowl, won by Texas 41-38 over USC.

Jackson called multiple PGA Tour and notable golf events for ABC in his four decades with the network. He was also an avid and very skillful golfer and was a member of Los Angeles Country Club and Shoal Creek in Alabama.
