April 2018 – Disappointment at Augusta
The progress Woods has made thus far in the 2018 calendar comes to a smothering halt at Augusta National. It comes amid high expectations and some very generous betting odds.
Woods makes an eagle and five birdies for a final-round 3-under 69 at Augusta National. But he finishes the week at 1 over overall and in a tie for 32nd. The closing 69 is his first sub-par round of the week and his first sub-70 round at the Masters since a 68 in the third round in 2015.
After a stretch of five tournaments in two months, Woods begins a break to try and get back on track.
“I didn’t hit my irons as good as I needed to for this particular week,” Woods says. “You miss it just a touch here and it gets magnified.”
