While the prospect of tournament golf still seems faraway for the LPGA, fans have been able to see a bit more from some players thanks social media.

Dame Laura Davies, for example, is hitting home run after home run with her Twitter playing tips.

Davies’ latest video tip on how to hit the ball out of a plugged lie in the bunker with a hooded clubface received high remarks from fans. Davies said she picked up the trick ages ago from Ian Woosnam in Japan.

“I thought he was joking,” said Davies of the wild-looking technique, “but it actually works.”

Before that, Davies offered some mental advice on how to play a watery hole, saying “If I hit a bad shot, normally I’ve thought about the bad shot.”

She was standing on the ninth hole at Sutton Green, a course she co-designed in the 1990s, when she talked about how to avoid the water down the right side on a tight tee shot.

The next tweet, titled “Bonus footage,” shows Davies taking a drop for her third shot.

“Classic example,” she said, “I don’t think I’ve ever hit it in this lake before.”

The World Golf Hall of Famer competed in the first Rose Ladies Series event in England but took off this week’s tournament to help raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society by taking part in a golf marathon.
