In photos: Tom Weiskopf through the years

Tom Weiskopf was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2020 and began his first chemotherapy treatment soon after. He died at the age of 79.

Weiskopf won the British Open in 1973, which would be his only major title. The star from Massillon, Ohio, finished second four times at the Masters, including 1975, while also adding another runner-up showing at the PGA Championship.

He won 16 times on the PGA Tour, as many times as Jack Burke Jr.,  Ralph Guldahl and Mark O’Meara, and added two European Tour wins and four PGA Tour Champions victories.

Here are a few shots at Weiskopf, who evolved into one of the game’s most renowned golf course designers, and some of the courses he’s worked on. He has over 40 to his credit.
