The Masters Par 3 Contest is one of the best parts of Masters Week at Augusta National Golf Club.
Originally an idea of club co-founder Clifford Roberts, it was first played in 1960. Sam Snead won it and won it again in 1974, just before his 62nd birthday.
There has yet to be a Masters champ who won the Par 3 Contest in the same week but that doesn’t keep anyone away from the fun-filled day.
Holes on the course range in distance from 70 to 140 yards. There have been 94 holes-in-one, including a record nine in the 2016 event.
The course is located in the northeast corner of the property, with the closing holes requiring flight over Ike’s Pond.
